More Lego Star Wars on the Wii

As I’d covered in a prior post, there’s just something inherently satisfying about whacking an object with a tube of light and seeing said object explode into Lego blocks, and I strongly feel that this is one of the places where real life falls rather short.

I was not surprised that the Complete Lego Star Wars Saga made me start with a little of Episode I before I could unlock the other episodes for my playing perusal, but because I’m such a kick-ass plastic Jedi who’s skilled at wielding his lightsaber, I was able to choose which episode I wanted to start out with in no time at all.

While I indeed enjoyed playing as little Lego versions of young Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jesus (his virtualized wee plastic face still bears a striking resemblance to Liam Neeson’s), I am a purist when it comes to these sorts of things and insist on starting with Episode IV. Also: let that be the last time I ever play as Jar Jar Binks ever. EVER.

After Episode IV, I will move on to Episode V. Then I’ll flashback to Episodes I, II, and III. Finally, I’ll finish at The End with Episode VI. That’s right—I’ll be doing it in the only order convoluted enough for everything in Star Wars to make the most sense it’s ever going to. Thanks, Lucas. Thucas.

Did things really need to get so convoluted and otherwise-contradictory, or would having something play out in order take all the fun out of it? Like Memento? Or Pulp Fiction? Or Benjamin Button?
